Poly Reduction:
The company bought completed models which save time from building objects from scratch. After looking at some of the models the worst one was the train. But it gave us a good starting point to get us moving with the animations.

This train engine is 357,658 polygons

I reduced this model down to 64,630 polygons. I also made it so that the text could be changed rather easy and be able to change the color of the engine.

When we got the model we notice that it had valves on the bottom of the car. These valves do not belong here after looking at specs of a real tanker . This tanker was also 220,150 polygon.

After redesigning the tanker I got the polygon count down to 11,718. The white car you see here is Ammonia. When I was looking at the cars there was a lot of wear or rust on the ends of the  tanks so I tried to capture this into the Ammonia's texture. Train cars have a color code which allows you to tell what type of car it is. Since we were doing animation I change the color to be a little brighter. So we can tell that multiple cars pass in front of the camera.

The Chlorine car was the first texture for the tanker.  After looking at the specs I notice that all trains should have certain markings which have their purpose. Like how old the tanker is, what it carried, is the car under pressure, etc.

Since our third gas was Bromine. I found out that most of this stuff was not carried in the normal size tanker so after doing my research I found what you would care it in. You would not find lots of Bromine cars on a train. Now know this I went back in and created new cars which can pull multiple items. This was a good thing cause we could change up the train but keep the same animation which was done using physic.


This stackable sunken car is 14,374 polygons

More Bromine a different container, these could be lift with a forklift  most likely there would be straps that would go through the forklift holes which would be strapped to the flatbed car.


This flatbed car runs 19,806 polygons.

The mini tanks were another way to carry Bromine they where welded down to the cage.


This model is 20,194 polygons.

The cages and cargo trailers came in many sizes but these are the standard sizes9x8x8, 19x8x8, 29x8x8, 40,x8x8


This model is 24,596 polygons.

This model is 19,425 polygons.
This model is 15,186 polygons.
This model is 16,192 polygons.

We ended up using this model for the main Bromine animation.

This model is 11,196 polygons.

This model is 16,693 polygons.
This model is 20,441 polygons.

These two cars where designed to be in a game, We were hoping to get some back from Amtrak and there for we did not change the logo or the color scheme. The baggage car is 1,996 polygons and the coach car is 1,878 polygons all textures where done from scratch except for the logo.
